Sir Robert Chiltern, a promising politician, finds his marriage and career under threat when the devious Mrs Cheveley attempts to blackmail him at a fashionable dinner party… Directed by Peter Hall Starring Kate O’Mara, Michael Praed, Carol Royle, Robert Duncan with Fenella Fielding and Tony Britton.

Presented by English Touring Opera,  Monday - Rusalka, Tuesday - La tragédie de Carmen Rusalka

She is the mermaid forbidden to mix with mortals. He is the handsome prince for whom she risks everything. Together they embark on a love affair that sees her sacrifice her home and her immortality. Dvorak’s rapturous score is crowned by the poignant Song to the Moon. Susannah ETO Spring 2008 sings the title role, with Richard Roberts as the Prince, Fiona Kimm as Ježibaba and Camilla Roberts as the Foreign Princess.

La tragédie de Carmen

This is opera at its most powerful, a raw and visceral adaptation of Bizet’s most popular work.A soldier, Don Jose, falls madly in love with the gypsey, Carmen. Despite the protestations of his faithful fiancee, Jose’s fate is sealed and his passion for the dimissive temptress can only lead to tragedy. Directed by Andrew Steggall, conducted by Gareth Hancock, and features Leah Marian Jones singing the title role, with Sinead Campbell as Micaëla, David Curry as Don Jose, and Nicholas Garrett as Escamillo.

Rambert Dance Company Eternal Light Tour 2008

After a record-breaking season in London last year, Rambert Dance Company returns to Bath with a brand new programme, bringing the very best of British and world-class talent to its audience.

Rambert’s twenty two dancers are considered to be some of the finest and most versatile in the world, performing a wide range of styles with precision and flair. The Company believes in the power of live music to enrich the senses and is the only modern dance company to permanently tour with an orchestra. London Musici, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, superbly enhances the Rambert experience.

 

7th – 15th November

Bath Mozart Festival
 
As the days shorten and leaves begin to fall, music-lovers across the region turn their attention to the annual Bath Mozartfest. Each year the Mozartfest celebrates the maestro’s music, and that of his contemporaries or those influenced by him, in a glorious nine-day feast of classical music.
